After...
A stunning quartz tabletop on an organic base is a study in contrast. The room plays with texture and scale. It also mixes a 48-inch modern and edgy crystal chandelier by Varalux with timeless wide plank hardwood oak floors and a sultry, feminine Sulking Room Pink paint by Farrow & Ball.
Working with Natural Elements
Marlowe wanted to use an organic element as the showstopping component of the room. A custom-fabricated Cambria quartz tabletop in a Brittanicca Gold Warm Matte™ design creatively contrasts with a beautifully rustic tree stump base crafted from a lightweight cedar tree trunk. The tabletop has a mitered edge with a 3-inch apron and a waterfall effect at one end. A steel fabricator created a support frame to marry the quartz top to the wood base. The weight of the quartz is mostly supported by the stump base which Marlowe airbrushed to have what she calls a “lighter and softer” aesthetic that pairs well with the neutral tones in the quartz design. The result is a truly stunning piece of artwork that creates drama in such an interesting way. Plus, this table will never be etched or stained since Cambria’s quartz surfaces are nonabsorbent, food safe, and scratch and stain resistent. Durability and beauty win the day in this One Room Challenge.
