Marie Flanigan

Marie Flanigan Interiors

Principal designer and classically trained architect whose work has been featured in premier interior design publications and showcased on HGTV programming.

When Flanigan’s team designed the interiors of a celebrated chef, special attention went to the kitchen. While relatively compact, the space has been expertly orchestrated to meet the needs of a culinary maestro. Since the area did not accommodate an island, the designers added a peninsula that provides needed additional workspace. Plus, all-new, rift-cut oak cabinets offer plenty of storage.

One of the most important considerations when designing this kitchen was choosing the appropriate surface. Thus, the countertops—as well as the full-height backsplash and stove hood—are crafted from Cambria’s Clovelly™. Its light, creamy color is warm yet crisp—with light veining dancing across it, adding visual interest. The team at Marie Flanigan Interiorsopens in a new tab believed using Cambria means that the countertops, hood, and backsplash will have the durability necessary for a family that spends so much time making food and memories in the kitchen.

A reconfigured primary bathroom was given a dark, sophisticated look by partnering rich, walnut cabinetry and a vanity featuring Cambria’s darkly alluring Mammoth Cave™*. The same quartz design is brought into a green-tiled shower as bench seating—creating a mystical cave-like aesthetic that feels organic and connected to nature.

Located in the hills of Encino, California, the chef’s ’70s-era home designed by architect Johannes van Tilburg—a pioneer in mixed-use urban design and community planning—offers a touch of Spanish flavor and a beautiful view of the Santa Monica mountains. Casual comfort is enhanced by textured layers of wood, textiles, plaster, and Spanish tile. A quartz coffee table in Cambria’s Hermitage™ design is among the touches of relaxed elegance in a home where it feels like being on vacation as soon as you walk through the front door.

In another project, designed by Marie Flanigan Interiors for a family with three young children, this kitchen is used for everything from cooking and baking to arts and crafts. The design details include durable Brittanicca Warm™ countertops in a Cambria Matte® finish. This elegant quartz countertop pairs perfectly with the rustic wood elements, woven stools, soft white cabinetry, and black metal light fixtures. The timeless neutral tones provide a sense of sanctuary where cooking a meal feels as relaxing as simply hanging out in this beautiful space.
