Have your sights set on Blackpool? Vast and commanding, this powerful Cambria design is the darkest ebony shade with a silken Cambria Matte® finish that absorbs light like a starless night.
“Dark and moody is coming on strong in design environments and with a non-sheen,” said Summer Kath, EVP of Design at Cambria. “More and more we are seeing so many options in matte black and charcoal in plumbing fixtures, appliances, and cabinets, and Cambria has several black and dark styles to choose from.”
In fact, matte black has become the new neutral, taking the spotlight from warm white and trendy beige. It pairs well with everything from patterned wallpaper and colored cabinetry to bright paints and intricate architectural details.
The dark Blackpool hue evokes a soapstone-like aesthetic—but is an alternative free from the upkeep and hassle. Cambria requires no maintenance, is nonabsorbent, and is scratch and stain resistant.
And Cambria Matte pairs the unrivaled stain resistance and longevity Cambria is known for with a matte finish that evokes the satiny subtle sheen of time-worn marble and shines with a radiance all its own. All Cambria Matte finish designs are backed by a transferable Full Lifetime Warranty to ensure years of outstanding service.
Here, we have curated five beautiful Blackpool spaces—from tuxedo kitchens and glam closets to unique fireplace surrounds and modern countertops—that prove why Blackpool is the industry’s secret to a home as beautiful as it is functional.
Tuxedo Kitchen
In this kitchen design by Louisville-based duo Jason Black of Artisan Signature Homes and Gretchen Black of Greyhouse Design, matte black Café appliances inspired the overall aesthetic. The duo paired the matte black appliances, hardware, and fixtures with brushed copper and whitewashed wood accents to keep the look modern but still approachable.

They created a tuxedo-style kitchen by adding Blackpool countertops in a matte finish on the quartz waterfall edge island and the perimeter countertops that make a stunning statement but also complement the other design elements in the space. “It just worked so beautifully,” said Gretchen in a YouTube walk-through of the space. “This waterfall edge keeps it really clean and looks great.”
Glam Closet
In the 2020 Lake Forest Showhouse benefitting the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago, Blackpool in a matte finish is prominently displayed in the master closet design by Ilene Chase Design. Chase was inspired in the décor by her travels to Paris for Deco Off 2020.
Filtered natural light pairs well with Blackpool countertops for a feminine aesthetic.
She paired the matte black quartz countertops on a dressing vanity with a variety of textures in shades of light pink, like a lacquered ceiling and linen cabinet fronts with lucite pulls. Light pouring in from the window keeps the look both girly and glam. And the durable quartz will resist any scratches from jewelry or an errant hanger.
Unique Fireplace Surround
In the same Lake Forest Showhouse project, honorary Showhouse chair Paloma Contreras of Paloma Contreras Interior Design featured another unique and alternative Cambria application on the fireplace in the formal dining room with a Cambria Blackpool fireplace surround in a matte finish.

Statement Kitchen
For a statement kitchen island in the 2019 Kips Bay Decorator Show House, designer Christopher Peacock chose Blackpool countertops in a matte finish.
“When I was looking at Cambria, there was a lot to choose from and, frankly, I could have gone in a bunch of different directions,” explained Peacock. “With the island countertop, I didn’t want a white countertop. I wanted something black that just soaked up the light and was not reflective. The matte black was just perfect.”
We love how he then added a brass metal band around the edge of the island countertops to bring the space together.

“I like to push the envelope a little bit,” he said. “The metal detail on the island matches the shelving and hood canopy detailing.”
He used a darker color palette to create a “more masculine” space that felt handsome. To complement the Blackpool island, Peacock selected Benjamin Moore Ashwood Moss for the color of the cabinetry. He added Cambria White Cliff™ in a matte finish on the perimeter countertops to infuse a touch of brightness.
Modern Kitchen
Merit Kitchens created a sleek and cohesive kitchen aesthetic by pairing modern elements—like flat paneled cabinetry with a light stain, black appliances, and sculptural light fixtures—with standout Cambria quartz designs.
A mix of unique design elements, including Blackpool countertops and Golden Dragon™ backsplash, makes this kitchen by Merit Kitchens stand out.
