Your dog is part of your family, so it only makes sense that your home reflects that. From the kitchen to mudrooms and laundry rooms, more and more homeowners are incorporating dog-friendly design ideas into their home renovations or new builds.
Here are some of our favorite dog-friendly design features in spaces that prove putting your four-legged friend first doesn’t mean style comes second.
Dog Washes with Quartz Countertops and Shelving
A dedicated dog wash in your laundry room or mudroom is perfect for pampering your pup and keeping paw prints at bay. We love this luxe laundry room featuring a blue subway-tile dog wash, dreamy de Gournay wallpaper, and stunning Ella™ countertops and shelving.

Quartz Pet-Feeding Stations
Your kitchen is the heart of your home, and no doubt one of your dog’s favorite spots to spend time. Designing a dedicated spot for daily meals can improve feeding time for your dog and cleanup time for you. An elevated dog bowl station keeps food and water in a fixed position. No more spills or tripping over dishes! Make sure the station is customized for your dog’s size—some pet experts say raised bowls may promote a healthier digestion posture for your dog. You’ll want to use a durable, nonabsorbent surface like Cambria for your feeding station so that water spills don’t damage or stain. And using the same quartz design for your countertops and dog-feeding station creates a beautiful, cohesive look in your kitchen.

Quartz Waterfall Islands
Another great option for a dog-friendly kitchen is a waterfall island. A Cambria waterfall island provides a durable surface for even the biggest of dogs to brush past or curl up against. They’re also an easy-clean anchor for a portable dog-dish holder, as any splashes from the bowl will wipe clean and never absorb or stain.

Prefer a more portable solution? A Cambria freestanding dog bowl stand complements the kitchen countertops and is made from durable, premium-quality quartz. Work with your local Cambria dealer to determine how to fabricate a dog dish holder to suit your needs.
Dog Food Storage Ideas
Keep dog food stocked up and safe from your scavenger with custom cabinetry in your kitchen, pantry, or mudroom. We love how this bright mudroom—or should we say mutt room—makes smart use of cabinet storage with a drawer for the dog food bin. And glass canisters on the Ella countertop keep doggie treats on hand for those “Good boy!” moments. Other good ideas for your mudroom or entryway include hooks for leashes and cubbies for dog toys and other gear.

Be sure to communicate with your designer or builder early in the design process about your desire to bring your dog’s needs and routines into the considerations for your space. Ask about other dog-friendly spaces your designer or builder has designed and share any photos you find for inspiration.
